కళ్లను, మనసును మైమరిపించే అద్భుతమైన ప్రకృతి అందాలకు నెలవు ఇప్పుడు మీరు చదవబోయె ప్రాంతం. ఇక్కడి లోయల్ని, కొండ ప్రాంతాలను ఉదయభానుడి లేలేత కిరణాలు తాకకముందే కప్పివేసే పొగమంచు ప్రతి ఒక్కరి మనసును పులకరింపజేస్తుంది. లెక్కలేనంత విస్తీర్ణంలో సాగయ్యే వరిపొలాల పచ్చదనం, కాఫీ, నారింజ తోటల సౌందర్య సరాగాలు, మిరియాలు, యాలకుల మసాలా గుభాళింపులు, ట్రెక్కింగ్, రివర్ రాఫ్టింగ్‌కు, Home-made (ఇంట్లో తయారు) వైన్ కి పెట్టింది పెరు, అదే కర్నాటక రాష్ట్రంలోని పశ్చిమ కనుమలలో గల కూర్గ్ హిల్ స్టేషన్.

దేశంలో పేరన్నిక గన్న హిల్ స్టేషన్లలో "కూర్గ్" ఒకటి. ఇది కర్ణాటకలోని మైసూర్కు 120 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో, సముద్ర మట్టానికి 1170 అడుగుల ఎత్తులో ఉంది. ప్రతి సంవత్సరం అక్టోబరు నుంచి మొదలుకొని మార్చి నెలాఖరు దాకా కూర్గ్కు వెళ్ళెందుకు మంచి సమయం.
పూర్వకాలంలో కొడగు రాజైనా "ముద్దురాజ" తన రాజధాని నగరంగా "ముద్దురాజ కేరీ"ని పరిపాలించినట్లు చరిత్ర కథనం. 1681లో ఆయన తన రాజధాని పేరును "మడికేరీ"గా మార్చగా.. అదే కాలక్రమంలో "కూర్గ్"గా స్థిరపడినట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. ఆనాటి రాచరిక వైభవాన్ని చాటిచెప్పే పలు ప్రదేశాలు నేటికీ కూర్గ్లో ఉన్నాయి. అలాగే కర్ణాటకకు చెందిన కావేరీ నది పుట్టిన "తలకావేరీ"గల ప్రాంతంగా కూడా కూర్గ్కు విశేష ప్రాముఖ్యం కలదు.
చూడదగ్గ ప్రాంతాల విషయానికి వస్తే... పశ్చిమ కనుమలలోని కూర్గ్ కాఫీ తోటల సౌందర్యం గురించి ఎంత చెప్పినా తక్కువే అవుతుంది.
మడికేరి కోట - Madikeri Fortమడికేరీ పట్టణ మధ్యభాగంలోగల బృహత్తరమైన కోట చూడదగ్గ ముఖ్య ప్రదేశం. 19వ శతాబ్దం నాటిదైన ఈ కోట అనేక యుద్దాలకు ప్రత్యక్షసాక్ష్యం. ఈ కోట నుండి కూర్గ్ పట్టణ సౌందర్యాన్ని చూడవచ్చు. ఈ కోటలో ప్రస్తుతం ఒక చిన్న మ్యూజియం ఉంది. అందులో కొన్ని చారిత్రాత్మక పెయింటింగులు, ఆయుధాలు, కవచకాలు, నాటి రాజులు ధరించిన దుస్తులు, అప్పటి జైలులోని వస్తువులు చూడవచ్చు.
రాజా సీట్ - Raja's Seatతప్పక చూడవలసిన మరొక ఆకర్షణ, "రాజా సీట్" దీనిని "సీట్ ఆఫ్ ది కింగ్" అంటారు, కొడగు రాజులు కూర్గ్ ప్రకృతి అందాలను ఆస్వాదించడానికి ఈ అందమైన తోట ప్రాంతానికి వచ్చేవారు. గార్డెన్‌లో సాయంత్రం వేళల్లో మ్యూజికల్ ఫౌంటెన్ షో కూడా ఉంటుంది. సందర్శకులు ఇక్కడ కూర్చుని పర్వతాలపై అందమైన సూర్యాస్తమయ దృశ్యాలను చూడవచ్చు.
అబ్బీ ఫాల్స్ - Abbey Fallsఒకప్పుడు "జెస్సీ ఫాల్స్" అని పిలువబడే "అబ్బీ ఫాల్స్" కూడా చూడదగ్గదే. ఎంతో సుందరమైన ఈ జలపాతం కూర్గ్కు కేవలం 5 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలోనే ఉంటుంది. ప్రతి సంవత్సరం అక్టోబర్ నుంచి, మార్చి వరకు ఈ జలపాతంలో నీరు పుష్కళంగా ఉంటుంది. 2015 లో నేను ఫ్రెండ్స్ తో కూర్గ్ రోడ్ ట్రిప్ లో అబ్బీ ఫాల్స్ వొచ్చినపుడు దిగిన ఫోటో ఇది.

భాగమండలం - Bhagamandalamకూర్గ్కు 30 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో గల "భాగమండలం" తప్పక వీక్షించాల్సిన ప్రదేశం. పవిత్ర ఆలయాలకు పేరు గాంచిన ఈ భాగమండలం జిల్లాలో ప్రఖ్యాతిగాంచిన ఆలయాలకు నెలవు. ఇక్కడే కావేరీ నది సుజ్యోతి మరియు కన్నిక నదులతొ కలుస్తుంది.
తలకావేరి - Talakaveriభాగమండలానికి 8 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో తలకావేరి ఉంది. బ్రహ్మగిరి కొండమీద ఉన్న ఈ ప్రదేశం, కావేరీ జన్మస్థలంగా ప్రాచుర్యం చెందింది. అక్కడ మహానందిలో మాదిరిగానే నంది నోట్లో నుంచి సన్నటిధారగా నీళ్లు పడి, కింద ఉన్న తటాకంలోకి వెళుతున్నాయి. అదే కావేరీ నది ప్రారంభం. ఆ తటాకం నుంచి నీళ్లు భూమిలోపలికి ప్రవహించి, కొంతదూరం తరవాత కావేరీనది రూపంలో పైకి వచ్చాయని చెబుతారు. ఆ తటాకంలోనే కొందరు స్నానాలు చేస్తారు. నీళ్లు చాలా చల్లగా ఉంటాయి. గుడి దాటుకుని మెట్లెక్కి పైకి వెలితే అక్కడ ఎడమ వైపున ఓ పెద్ద కొండ ఉంది. ఆ కొండపైనుంచి చూస్తే అద్భుతమైన ప్రకృతి దృశ్యాలు మరియు కొండకి ఓ పక్కంతా కేరళ, మరోవైపు కర్ణాటక సరిహద్దు ప్రాంతాలు అందంగా కనువిందు చేస్తాయి. ఫ్రెండ్స్ తో తలకావేరి వొచ్చినపుడు దిగిన ఫోటో ఇది.

ఓంకారేశ్వర దేవాలయం -Omkareshwar Templeఅద్భుతమైన ఇస్లామిక్, గోథిక్ శిల్పకళా రీతులతో ఉట్టిపడే శివుడి ఆలయమైన "ఓంకారేశ్వర దేవాలయం" కూర్గ్లో తప్పక చూడదగ్గ ఆలయం. ఈ చారిత్రాత్మకమైన ఆలయాన్ని 1820వ సంవత్సరంలో కూర్గ్ రాజు నిర్మించాడు. ఇక్కడ ప్రతి సంవత్సరం నవంబర్లో ఉత్సవాలు జరుగుతాయి. ఈ గుడి గోపురంపైగల గుండ్రని బంతిలాంటి "వాతావరణ గడియారం" పర్యాటకులను విశేషంగా ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది.
టిబెటన్ స్వర్ణ దేవాలయం - Tibetan Golden Temple
కూర్గ్ సమీపంలో చూడదగ్గ వాటిలో "టిబెటన్ స్వర్ణ దేవాలయం"గా పిలవబడే "బైలేకుప్పే" ప్రసిద్ధి గాంచింది. ఇక్కడి అద్భుతమైన శిల్పకళకు ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ ముగ్దులు అవుతారు. ఇక్కడ సుమారు 5వేల మంది బౌద్ధ బిక్షువులకు విద్యాబుద్దులు నేర్పుతుంటారు. ఈ ప్రాంతమంతా చూడటానికి ఒక చిన్న టిబెటన్ గ్రామంలా ఉంటుంది. జవహర్లాల్ నెహ్రూ బౌద్ద భిక్షువులకు ఇచ్చిన రెండు మఠాలలో ఇది ఒకటి కాగా.. మరొకటి హిమాచల్ ప్రదేశ్ లోని "ధర్మశాల"లో ఉంది. ఫ్రెండ్స్ తో గోల్డెన్ టెంపుల్ వొచ్చినపుడు దిగిన ఫోటో ఇది.

డ్యూబారే ఎలిఫెంట్ క్యాంప్ - Dubare Elephant Camp
కావేరీ నది తీరంలో డ్యూబారే అడవి సమీపంలో గల "డ్యూబారే ఎలిఫెంట్ క్యాంప్" చూడదగ్గ మరో పర్యాటక ప్రదేశం. నిజానికి ఇది ఏనుగులకు శిక్షణనిచ్చే ఒక క్యాంపు. అక్కడి క్యాంపులోని ఏనుగులకు స్నానం చేయించడానికి నది తీరానికి తీసుకువస్తుంటారు. ఇక్కడే కావేరి నదిలో రివర్ రాఫ్టింగ్ చేస్తారు. రివర్ రాఫ్టింగ్ చెయ్యడానికి ఇది చాలా అనుకూలమైన ప్రాంతం. ఫ్రెండ్స్ తో ఎలిఫెంట్ క్యాంప్ వొచ్చినపుడు దిగిన ఫోటో ఇది.

ఇరుపు జలపాతం - Irupu Falls
బ్రహ్మగిరి కొండల్లో, నాగర్హోల్కు వెళ్లే దారిలోగల "ఇరుపు జలపాతం" కూడా చూడదగ్గదే. ఇది వీరాజ్పేట్కు 48 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో ఉంటుంది. ఇది ఎంతో మంచి పర్యాటక ప్రదేశంగా మరియు పిక్నిక్ స్పాట్గా కూడా ప్రసిద్దిగాంచింది.
మండలపట్టి పీక్ - Mandalapatti Peakమండలపట్టి పీక్, పశ్చిమ కనుమలలో ఉన్న ఒక సుందరమైన పర్వత శిఖరం. ఇది అద్భుతమైన ప్రకృతి దృశ్యాలకు, ట్రెక్కింగ్ మరియు హైకింగ్ కోసం ప్రసిద్ధ ప్రదేశం. ఈ శిఖరం సముద్ర మట్టానికి 5,600 అడుగుల ఎత్తులో ఉంది మరియు దీనిని చేరుకోవడనికి సమీప పట్టణం నుండి కాలి నడక ద్వారా వెళ్ళవచ్చు.
"కూర్గ్"కు వెళ్లేందుకు ఎంతో అనుకూలమైన రైలు, రోడ్డు సౌకర్యాలు ఉన్నాయి. కూర్గ్కు సమీప రైల్వేస్టేషన్ మైసూర్. దేశంలోని అన్ని ప్రాంతాల నుండి మైసూరుకు రైళ్ల సౌకర్యాలు ఉన్నాయి. ఇక రోడ్డుమార్గంలో మైసూర్ నుండి 120 కి. మీ. దూరంలో కూర్గ్ ఉంటుంది. ఇక బస విషయానికి వస్తే... కూర్గ్లో యాత్రికులు మజిలీ చేసేందుకు పలు రిసార్ట్లు ఉన్నాయి. ఇంకెందుకు ఆలస్యం వెంటనే కూర్గ్ చెక్కేయండి మరి...!!
The place you are going to read is now the place where you are going to read the wonderful natural beauty that enchants the eyes and the mind. The mist that envelops the valleys and hilly areas here before the rising rays of the dawn touches everyone's mind. Coorg hill station in the Western Ghats of Karnataka State is the place where the greenery of the paddy fields spread across countless areas, the beauty of the coffee and orange groves, pepper and cardamom spices, trekking, river rafting, home-made wine.
"Coorg" is one of the famous sugarcane hill stations in the country. It is 120 km from Mysore in Karnataka and 1170 feet above sea level. Every year October to the end of March is a good time to visit Coorg.
History tells us that in the past, Kodagu king "Mudduraja" ruled "Mudduraja Keri" as his capital city. In 1681, he changed the name of his capital to "Madikeri". There are still many places in Coorg that reflect the royal splendour of those days. Also, Coorg has special importance as the birthplace of Kaveri river of Karnataka called "Talakaveri".
When it comes to places to visit... the beauty of the Coorg coffee plantations in the Western Ghats cannot be overstated.
Madikeri FortThe massive fort in the center of Madikeri town is the main attraction. Dating back to the 19th century, this fort has witnessed many battles. The beauty of Coorg town can be seen from this fort. The fort now houses a small museum. Some of the historical paintings, weapons, armours, clothes worn by the kings of the past and the things of the then prison can be seen in it.
Raja's Seat
Another must-see attraction is the "Raja's Seat" also known as the "Seat of the King", the kings of Kodagu used to come to this beautiful garden area to enjoy the natural beauty of Coorg. The garden also has a musical fountain show in the evenings. Visitors can sit here and watch the beautiful sunset over the mountains.
Abby Falls
Also worth a visit is "Abby Falls", once known as "Jesse's Falls". This beautiful waterfall is just 5 km from Coorg. Every year from October to March, the water in this waterfall is abundant. This is a photo I took in 2015 when I came to Abbi Falls on a Coorg road trip with friends.
Bhagamandalam
A must-visit place is "Bhagamandalam", 30 km from Coorg. Famous for its holy temples, Bhagamandalam is home to famous temples in the district. This is where Kaveri River meets Sujyoti and Kannika Rivers.
Talakaveri
Talakaveri is 8 km away from Bhagamandalam. Situated on the Brahmagiri hills, this place is popularly known as the birthplace of Kaveri. There, just like in Mahanandi, water falls from Nandi's mouth in a thin stream and goes into the tank below. That is the beginning of Kaveri River. It is said that the water from that tank flowed into the ground and after some distance came up in the form of a cave. Some people bathe in that pool. The water is very cold. Passing the temple and going up the stairs, there is a big hill on the left side. From the top of the hill, you can see the beautiful scenery and the border of Kerala on one side and Karnataka on the other. This is a photo taken when I was hanging out with my friends.
Omkareswara Temple
A must-see temple in Coorg is the Lord Shiva temple "Omkareswara Temple" with its magnificent Islamic and Gothic architecture. This historic temple was built in the year 1820 by the King of Coorg. Festivals are held here every year in November. The round ball-like "weather clock" on the dome of this temple is a special attraction for tourists.
Tibetan Golden Temple
Among the must-sees near Coorg is "Bailekuppe" popularly known as the "Tibetan Golden Temple". Everyone will be mesmerized by the amazing craftsmanship here. About 5 thousand Buddhist monks are taught here. The entire area looks like a small Tibetan village. This is one of the two monasteries given to Buddhist monks by Jawaharlal Nehru. The other is in "Dharamshala" in Himachal Pradesh. This is a photo taken when visiting the Golden Temple with friends.
Dubare Elephant Camp
"Dubare Elephant Camp" near Dubare forest on the banks of Kaveri river is another tourist spot worth visiting. It is actually a training camp for elephants. The elephants in the camp are brought to the river bank for bathing. River rafting is done here on Cauvery river. It is a very suitable area for river rafting. This is a photo taken when I came to the elephant camp with my friends.
Irupu Falls
In the Brahmagiri Hills, the "Irupu Falls" on the way to Nagarhole is also worth a visit. It is 48 km from Veerajpet. It is also popular as a good tourist spot and picnic spot.
Mandalapatti Peak
Mandalapatti Peak is a beautiful mountain peak in the Western Ghats. It is a popular place for trekking and hiking for its stunning landscapes. The peak is 5,600 feet above sea level and can be reached on foot from the nearest town.
"Coorg" has very convenient rail and road facilities. Mysore is the nearest railway station to Coorg. There are train facilities to Mysore from all parts of the country. 120 km from Mysore by road. m. Coorg is in the distance. When it comes to accommodation... there are many resorts in Coorg to accommodate pilgrims. Why delay and carve Coorg immediately...!!
